Jan. 23rd, 2013

Not much happened at the office today. We have sent a project off to Salt Lake, now we have to wait to see what they say before we can do any more. Tara didn’t come in while we were there. She was out trying to buy a new printer for the office and pick up some other supplies that we need. She is the only one with a credit card and a budget right now. The church is changing banks and we don’t have a credit card for our humanitarian calling or our mission calling yet. Hopefully that will change soon because Tara leaves next week. We have been told that a name for her replacement has been sent to the Area Authorities for approval. We are anxious to see who will replace her, we really need someone to be trained before she leaves next week.
We left early again today because we had another Zone Conference to go to. It must be a little hotter today. The elders and sisters were kind of dead. I tried to cheer them up but it was hard work. We are going to have to lighten up our presentation but they don’t always get our jokes.
The weather has been just lovely the last couple of days. The temperature is about the same but the humidity is lots lower and there is a breeze almost all the time. I can do this!
I made an appointment to have my hair cut on Friday. Everyone tells me that the lady that all the sister missionaries go to is very good and she speak perfect English so I am hoping for a good experience. It couldn’t be much worse than what I got in Ukraine so I am keeping my fingers crossed.
I baked some cookies tonight for our farewell party for Tara and her family tomorrow. Of course we had the doors and windows open because of the heat, and what do you know, the elders dropped by to see how we were doing. It was just like the old days in Ukraine. Bake cookies and the elders will come. It was the zone leaders from the west zone and we had a great visit with them. Elder Prescott is from San Diego and he will be going home in March. He wanted some advice about school and life. Elder T, who has a last name that I cannot say yet so I call him Elder T, is a Tongan from the Salt Lake area. He will be here until next September and we are happy about that. He is a top notch missionary and he will be a great help to us in our mission calling. We really enjoyed spending time with the young missionaries again. It’s all good.
